Our new treasures

It's true that one man's trash is another man's treasure. I have fallen in love with garage sales. Here's a sampling of some of my recent finds and how they have enriched our lives :)

A chalkboard/easel: Noah says: "chalk" and he loves scribbling on it. He also loves when I draw pictures. He tells me what to draw. Mostly it is animals (he makes all the sounds), and people (Mom, Dad, and Pop). And when he stands up and turns in circles, I draw a circle. He tells me to erase when he says "bye bye".

This is some of Noah's chalkboard art. (According to him, it is lots of snakes.)

Noah was with me when I found this rocking horse at a garage sale. After I paid for the horse and buckled Noah in his carseat, I put the horse in the back of the truck. Noah started crying and kept doing his sign for "come here." So I moved the horse to the backseat next to Noah and he was happy.

If Noah inherits our short genes and the other sports don't work out for him, he could always be a jockey.

This little wooden table and chairs were broken when I bought it, but come on, for 2 dollars I couldn't pass it up. And thanks to my handy husband, Noah has a restored dining and craft table.
I've basically abandoned the highchair because it is the cutest thing in the world to see little Noah sitting down to eat at a real table. Whenever he is hungry, he will go to the dishwasher, open it up and get out a plate, then bring it to his table and sit down. Sometimes if I'm not fast enough responding to his hunger cues, he will go ahead and fold his arms for prayer and say "mom mom mom mom mom mom" until I get moving and get some food on that plate.

Also, we found a big people kitchen table too, so we can actually sit down together for meals. I feel like a real family again! It's amazing how a table transforms a house, even an old secondhand model (although a garage sale find is a step up from our last kitchen table that was literally found on the side of the road!)

So thanks to all those good people out there who get rid of their old junk.

Oh man! I am dying right now because of how much I LOVE garage sales! I didn't know you did them! Going garage saleing is one of my favorite memories of last summer. I am so happy for you that you found that awesome stuff. Those tables are awesome. Isn't it a blast?! You never know what you'll find. Even when you stop at one that looks tiny and crappy you just might find your favorite thing there! And then you'll find something you never knew you wanted but when you see it you are totally stoked. I LOVE IT!! I really wish it would warm up here so I could get going on garage sales!!!!
