Jacob was 2 months yesterday. He is growing into his cuteness and becomes even more endearing every day. Especially because of his smiles. There's nothing like seeing that sweet little toothless newborn smile. It melts my heart every time! I read that universally, in every culture, babies begin flashing their social smiles at around the same 6-week mark. Jacob is no exception. The past couple of weeks he has been very responsive to my smile-coaxing techniques, which I have been perfecting for years. Back when I was 8 years old, I was caught on tape trying to make my youngest brother Kenton smile by tickling his cheeks while chanting repeatedly: "Can ouuuuu smiiiile for meeeeeeeeee?" in a very annoying high-pitched voice. My family still mocks me for that, but I don't let it get me down, and I haven't abandoned my technique, because it works!

How cute! It's so fun when they start to smile; you finally feel like you're having mutual interaction. I'm so sorry I didn't reach you in time about yesterday's play group. It'll be fun to see you next week, though.
Dear little Jake has captured my heart with his beautiful smile.
Can everyone see that he is amazing, or is that just the grandma in me?
Love you all - MUCH!
Awwww! So cute. Way to use those hard earned skills!
i love it when they finally start smiling, it makes all the trouble seem worth it - if only for a second or two
Oh he is so cute. Is it just me or does he totally look like a Pieper? Wait, is it spelled Piper? I can't remember!!!!!!!!!
Kate,
They are too cute. Our babies are just about a month apart. Maybe they can marry each other some day!
