.....Girl! (if you want to get more specific)
I went to the doctor for my Ultrasound one week ago, and found out the big news. Not that it was a surprise to Noah or Jake. They have been convinced for weeks that it is a girl. Before the ultrasound I tried to prepare them for a potential shock if we saw boy parts instead...but Noah was adamant that it was a baby girl in there. He was happy to tell us afterwards: "See!? I told ya!" Kyle was instantly thrilled, and he is ready to figure out the experience of fathering a girl. As for me, I was surprised at the intensity of apprehension that I felt when I found out we've got a daughter on the way. But I have had seven days to adjust to the idea, and now I am nothing but happy. Well, ok. I'd be lying if I didn't say there are still some anxious flutters left in the mix! I know mothers are supposed to worry about kids. But something about mothering a girl seems so...scary. Without detailing all the specifics, I'll leave it at that. Because like I said, the excitement is coming and starting to replace some of those nerves. Probably the turning point was when I remembered that children start out as babies. Sweet, tiny, lovable babies. And this time I can dress mine up like a doll. What could be scary about that? Right??
(Feel free to leave a reassuring comment of the things you love about mothering your little girl!)

YIPPEE! A GIRL! (Although we obviously think boys are amazing...) I don't have any advice for a great mom like you. All I know is despite my failings as a mother - the girls I raised are spectacular women! So... I know the Lord is with you every day as you and Kyle parent your wonderful little people. I love you all.
Yay Yay Yay!!! I'm so happy for you!! Since I have only been the mother to greenies, just love that girl and work her hard. That's all I've got for you! I'll just be your nanny, it will be fine. :0)
Yay! Girls are so much fun. You will be such a great mom to a little girl, don't worry! And she's going to be beautiful, just don't be surprised if she has more attitude than your boys (at least mine does)!
I was pretty bummed when I first found out I was having a girl, but retail therapy and decorating the nursery cheered me up. Then, Brynnlee and I instantly bonded as I held my precious newborn girl. Jake is a protective big brother, Dustin is a doting dad, and I love Brynnlee's girly-girl phase she's going through right now. Girls are a lot of fun! You'll be just fine.
Congratulations!! I didn't know you were pregnant :) that is so exciting and a girl!! I have to say it is not much different the first year, a baby is a baby. This one you just put pretty clothes on and take a million pictures. :) We will see how different it is in the future. Boy are so easy, Ella seems to already throwing fits. Which is earlier than I remember the boys doing that....I am prepared to treat her just as I have my boys though....
CONGRATS!!!!!! Isabelle was SURE ours was a girl too, in fact I was pretty sure ours was a girl too. Once again, it took a few days to get used to the idea of another boy. Girls are SO much fun!!!! So different, but fun. I've loved watching the gender difference in my two. IT's hilarious!
I'm actually opposite. I feel way better about mothering a girl. Mothering boys scares the begeebers out of me. You will be a great girl mom. You've done such a great job with those two adorable boys.
Kate, you already know how much I love girls! But, I have to tell you that I think you are a great mother to Jake and Noah and I know you will be a great mother to your little lady. I really admire the way you parent your kids. You probably don't know that I sometime watch you with your kids and try to be more like you. You really are amazing.
Back to the girl thing- they are fun in a different kind of way than boys. One thing I really love about my girls is watching their Dad with them. He treats them very differently than Kaden. He is so sweet and protective of them, and they love him too. This week Ben was putting Kamry in bed and she looked up at him and said, "Daddy, I love you. When I get bigger, I'm going to marry you." I'm sure that your little girl will want to marry Kyle too.
Hurray, hurray, hurray!!! I totally understand why you would be nervous. We were so nervous when we found out we were having a girl. But you are so right about them starting out as babies. They are SO fun to dress in cute outfits and it will be so sweet to see your boys protect her. You will LOVE it. I'm so happy for you guys. Can't wait to pick out an outfit for her!
Yea!! Yea!!! Girls are so fun and you will be a wonderful mother to a daughter. She will have an incredible example of womanhood to follow- YOU!
PS I can't believe I didn't know you were pregnant!
Congratulations! I echo April's comment that the first year or so is really no different from boys. You've got two great boys, and you'll get your girl figured out as well.
Congratulations! And I'll just add my vote of confidence that I believe you'll be a fantastic mom to a little girl.
And good luck to you and Kyle. Now you'll be outnumbered....
